Hip treatment at Adelaide Arthroplasty Clinic
A healthy hip should be pain free
A normal native or artificial hip joint should move freely and painlessly. In the native hip, there is a layer of thick, strong cartilage, lubricated by synovial fluid, that enables a smooth movement. Trauma damage, wear and tear through sport or aging, osteo or inflammatory arthritis and other diseases like congenital conditions and infections all have the potential to interfere with your hip joint’s normal functionality and lubrication, causing pain, stiffness or inability to move normally. In an artificial hip the metal, ceramic and polyethylene bearings replace the cartilage but provide the same smooth movement. Infection, fracture, dislocation and wear and tear are the most common causes that affect the normal function of an artificial hip replacement
There are many conditions and injuries that we commonly see, and many that are not so common. As we work together as a team, you can feel confident that we’ve “seen it before” and have practiced the approaches, treatments and surgeries to get you back to normal, painless function.
We will assess your hip and discuss the best treatment options with you.
